“Yao!” You yelled out at the Chinese man and hugged him from behind; he stumbled a little bit but didn’t fall to the ground.
“What is it, (y/n) aru,” Yao asked and turned his head to look at you, his brown eyes staring into your excited (e/c) ones.
“Can we go to the zoo? Please?” You asked and nuzzled into the back of his neck; Yao blushed at this and turned you around to look at you.
Yao pondered the thought for a moment, “Sure, why not?” He smiled which made you fist pump out of victory.
“Yay, we can go see the pandas~” You cooed which made Yao smile.
“Aiyah, how could I forget about the pandas aru?!” Yao said and rubbed his forehead in frustration. “Well I better get ready; you should too now get out of my house.” Yao joked and chuckled and shoved you out of his house.
“OK see you around 2 Yao!” You yelled out and walked back home. You see, you stayed the night with Yao that night after your parents told you that they were leaving town for a business trip so you had the entire house to yourself for that week. After fishing the key to your house out of your bag since you weren’t wearing pants that had pockets. You unlocked the door and stepped inside, tempted to yell out “I’m home” but you remembered your parents weren’t home.
You ran upstairs and dashed into your bedroom. Since nobody was home, you could keep the door open and do whatever. You haven’t had this much freedom since, well, ever. Plus, you were only a junior in high school and all of your other friends had the house to themselves all the time. “What do I wear?” You asked yourself and walked into your closet and looked around the many shirts in the closet. “Knowing Yao we’re most likely going to look at the pandas.”
After getting dressed in a green panda t-shirt and some jeans you slipped on your shoes and walked into the bathroom. You looked for your hairbrush, worried you couldn’t find it, you yelled out in frustration. “Where did I put my hairbrush at?” You looked in the drawers and face palmed yourself, the bag. You walked back into the bedroom and looked around for your bag; you found it and opened it up. You got your (f/c) hairbrush out and started brushing your hair out. It was pretty windy outside so there was no use doing anything special to it, plus it was Yao. You remembered Yao telling you he just liked girls to be themselves, and that they should also love pandas. You chuckled at the memory and grabbed your panda ball-cap out of the closet and put it on your (h/c) head.
The clock only said 1:20 after you finished doing whatever you needed to do after getting everything out of your bag so you wouldn’t freak out the next time. You figured you could just be lazy until Yao came to pick you up. You could drive and stuff but you and Yao would always fight on who would drive so Yao decided that you two could switch each time the both of you needed to go somewhere. So you drove last time and now it was Yao’s turn to drive. Sadly, he drives really slowly and it makes you mad. But what could you do about it? Yao did tell you that he tried to drive like a normal person which in his eyes, that meant speeding. So Yao got pulled over and so he always drove under the speed limit since then, poor Yao.
“OK where is he?” You asked yourself as you glanced at the clock, it was 2:10. You paced around the living room waiting for him to ring the bell or to just walk in and grab you. After about a few more minutes, you saw Yao finally pull up in your driveway. After walking outside and into his car, you asked him, “What took you so long?”
Yao pulled out of your driveway and started driving towards the zoo which was actually fairly close to where both of you lived. You couldn’t walk to the zoo though so it wasn’t that close to where you all lived. He looked at you then back to the road, “Well,” he started and motioned to his ponytail, “I washed my hair and tried to put my hair back into its usual hairstyle.” He blushed but continued to stare at the road. “It didn’t really work out so much at first but I got it back!” He said happily and smiled, you chuckled.
“You should wear your hair down more; I never see you with your hair down as much anymore.” You said, the smile still lingering on your face. You looked out the window and in your peripheral vision, you saw Yao looking at you. You faced him and saw he was staring at your shirt and hat.
“Oh my that reminds me…” Yao said and turned to look in the backseat and grabbed his panda he usually carried around everywhere after stopping the car on a red light. “Here, it completes your outfit now aru!” He squealed at the cuteness after sitting the panda in your lap. “You can have Panda for the day but return him to me after we get back.” He said and you nodded.
He must’ve really liked your outfit, well; it had pandas on it; since he gave you his panda for the day that is. Both of you have been best friends since you were in the third grade after Yao transferred to your school from China. You helped him learn English from then on and you started to gain a crush on him once you hit high school, you didn’t know if Yao felt the same way about you though. Maybe today would be the day you would confess your feelings to him? After giving it much thought, you didn’t know if you should confess or not.
You cuddled Panda and rested your head on his, Yao squealed from how cute you both looked. “Aiyah, (y/n), you look so cute with Panda aru!” He said after pulling into the parking lot of the zoo. Both of you got out of the car and walked over to the front entrance, Yao paid for both of your tickets.
“Yao, I can pay for my own ticket.” You said. Yao just shook his head.
“No, no, no let me.” He insisted. There was no use getting him to not pay for your ticket now. He handed an extra $10 to the man and gave Yao the tickets. The brunet handed you your ticket as you both walked over to grab a map since the zoo is really huge. “Let’s go find the pandas now,” he said and started dragging you in the direction of the panda exhibit.
You all passed many animals that you really wanted to look at. Yao was being stubborn so he kept dragging you away from all the animals and in ten minutes flat the both of you were over at the panda exhibit. Yao squealed once he saw the pandas and almost fainted when he saw a panda cub. “(y/n), aru; look at the pandas! Aren’t they so adorable?” He asked and watched you walk over to him, holding Panda real close to you.
You nodded and smiled at the pandas trying to eat some of the bamboo. “Yao, there’s something I want to tell you…” you said after a few minutes of watching the pandas.
Yao looked over at you and tilted his head, “What is it (y/n) aru?” He asked and sat next to the cage, you did the same.
“Well, we’ve known each other ever since third grade and I think I’ve started to gain feelings for somebody“- You said but Yao cut you off before you could finish.
“Who is it, (y/n)? I’m pretty sure they like you back.” Yao smiled disappointedly; at least you hoped it was a disappointment smile.
“Well, he’s Chinese and one of my best friends…”
“He’s Chinese?! Who is he? I’m pretty sure I know him!”
“He has brown hair and usually wears it in a ponytail…” you kept giving hints, hoping Yao could guess that it was him.
“Really,” Yao questioned and looked down at his hair. You chuckled at how he couldn’t guess so quickly.
“Yes, and he’s sitting with me right now.” You smirked a little at Yao’s confused expression. It’s now or never… You thought and leaned into Yao. Before he could comprehend what was happening, you kissed him. Yao’s eyes went wide while yours were closed so you couldn’t see Yao’s expression. He slowly closed his eyes and put a hand behind your head and pushed you more into him. The Chinese caressed your back and held it in place so you couldn’t move.
It just felt like time stopped during your little “make-out session” with Yao. You smiled into his lips and the both of you had to pull away for air. You laid your (s/c) forehead on Yao’s and stared into his brown eyes. “Have I ever told you that you have the most beautiful (e/c) eyes I’ve ever laid my eyes on?” Yao asked which made you giggle.
“I can say the same for you.” You whispered and clutched Panda tightly, you looked down at the stuffed animal.
“Keep Panda aru.” Yao simply told you and looked down at the panda, then up to your shocked face.
“B-but, Yao,” you looked at the Chinese and cuddled Panda tighter. You knew how much Yao loved his stuffed panda, it freaked you out that he would just give you his precious Panda.
“Wǒ ài nǐ, (y/n). Remember Panda as a gift for when we first started dating.” Yao winked at you, making you blush and look away. He chuckled and kissed your cheek, turning your face a little bit red.
Let’s just say you and Yao came here every day for your anniversary. You remembered to bring Panda with you every time you came and you always sat in your spot, next to the panda cage.
